Hotel Manala is located along the Nicoya Peninsula’s southwest coast near the Santa Teresa beach. This area is famed for its spectacular surfing, pleasant beaches and mellow atmosphere.

The surfing in the Mal País and Santa Teresa area is some of the peninsula’s best. Santa Teresa’s main beach hosts both beach and point breaks that are consistently good, albeit a bit large. Other beaches in the area, including El Carmen and Playa Hermosa, are suitable for beginning or intermediate surfers. Visitors to the area will also enjoy horseback rides, canopy tours, and trips to the Cabo Blanco Absolute Reserve, where a great variety of creatures – including anteaters, sloths and howler monkeys – can be spotted in the reserve’s dry tropical forest.

Hotel Manala’s bungalows are cozy, clean and spacious. Thoughtfully arranged to ensure the guests’ privacy, these bungalows blend Caribbean and Mediterranean architectural styles. Large roofs are supported by polished wooden beams and extend beyond stone terraces, while arched windows – which are spaced throughout the circular building – allow in a good deal of light. Each of the eight bungalows is comfortably equipped with air conditioning, fan, mini fridge and a large hot water shower. Wireless internet and cable TV allows guests to fill any down time they may have in their day, while a safe deposit box ensures that important valuables will remain secure. The queen size beds are new and comfortable, and often decorated with fresh tropical flowers. Furthermore, one of the bungalows is wheelchair accessible.

The hotel’s grounds are immaculately cared for and are filled with tropical plants. The large swimming pool is a wonderful place to relax during the afternoon or evening, it has a small area sectioned off for children and is close enough to the beach that you can hear the ocean. The nearby Jacuzzi provides guests with a convenient way to unwind after a day spent hiking or surfing.

Hotel Manala’s newly opened restaurant offers a variety of tasty meals, and serves a free continental breakfast every morning.
