[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

In the Caribbean region of Costa Rica there is a protected zone of incomparable beauty that begins near the town of Siquirres and covers approximately 25,000 acres as it descends down the Talamanca Mountain Range.

This is the area known as Pacuare, which constitutes one of the most important protected areas in the region. Its proximity to the lowlands and its high annual rainfall combine to nurture the complex life systems whose abundance makes for extraordinary scenic beauty.

Located within this zone, the Pacuare River forms the northern border of Central America’s most important network of national parks and reserves and offers some of the finest white water in Latin America. Officially designated a “Wild and Scenic River,” the water flows deep inside remarkable primordial rainforest, coursing through a wilderness of dense vegetation that covers the sides of steep gorges rising above the riverbanks. The rainforests thick undergrowth provides shelter to jaguars, ocelots, monkeys, sloths, and numerous other species of mammals and birds.

Deep inside the Pacuare Protected Zone, perched on the banks of this enchanting river, lies the singular Pacuare Lodge. Visitors to our lodge can enjoy a truly memorable Pacuare Adventure as they soak up the natural beauty and tranquility of this magical jungle hideaway.

National Geographic has listed the Pacuare River as one of the worlds top ten scenic rivers getting to the Pacuare Lodge is the best adventure, since you arrive and depart as part of a multi-day rafting tour on the Pacuare River.

This eco-lodge is dedicated to protecting the natural environment, committed to using sustainable practices such as recycling, reforestation and solar-heating. Indeed, the World Tourism Organization has recognized the Pacuare Jungle Lodge as being a worldwide example of sustainability and ecotourism.

The luxuriant rainforest that surrounds the Pacuare Lodge is a private reserve that forms part of the largest network of protected areas in Central America, covering more than 1.2 million acres of tropical wilderness.

Pacuare Lodge is a luxurious nature and adventure lover’s paradise hidden away in the heart of Costa Rica’s most pristine jungle. Best accessed by white water raft, it combines thrilling adventure activities and an abundance of wildlife, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful and exciting stretches of white water anywhere (class 3-4 rapids)

Guests have the opportunity to experience an unforgettable meal in the Nest: a platform 60 feet above the jungle floor in the branches of century-old Kapok tree – considered a sacred tree by the ancient Mayans.

All of the staff at the Pacuare Lodge is from local communities, and the friendly, casual atmosphere has been cited by guests as one of the most pleasant aspects of their stay.

Activities at the lodge include white water rafting, kayaking, canoeing, bird watching, canopy tours, hiking and horseback riding.

Year round destination, although November to April are the best months for sunshine. The ‘Green’ season, from May to October, is a good time to visit: it’s sunny in the mornings with rain in the afternoons. The quietest period is April to early June. The rain can be particularly strong in September and October.

Rafting is possible all year round, though the river might be slightly colder during the green season.
